Enterprise Training Contact Us
Our Social Enterprise is a supported employment scheme for people with learning disabilities. The team works on commissions from the public and also creates paintings, prints and objects for sale. The project is user led; the workers participating in every aspect of the service from the initial workshops with the client, to discussing the brief, through to the design and manufacture of the work.
Because of the skills gained through the Product Design Course the team can tackle large and small commissions; anything from bookends and clocks to a ‘make over’ for a whole building. They are increasing their skill base with each new commission. For commissions which involve changes to physical aspects of people’s environment, we always run a series of workshops with the people involved to get their ideas and aspirations for their space. Our team is excellent at involving people and drawing out their ideas.
Our team is made up of people with learning disabilities, Down’s Syndrome, epilepsy, asperges and autism, and ranges in age from 20 to seventy year olds, male and female, English, Korean, Bangladeshi, Chinese and Afro Caribbean.

Poetry in Wood is an SSBA Community Trust Project. The Trust provides a charitable base for poetry in Wood and various other projects which work in partnership when appropriate.
